Racking Solutions' Team travel 600 miles to help twin girls & their family

A deserving family from Devon are soon to be featured on the TV programme, DIY SOS.

Racking Solutions of Normanton, Yorkshire supplied and installed 9 Economy shelving units, free of charge to benefit the family. Martin Churm & Phil Afford of Racking Solutions, travelled over 600 miles, round trip to support the project.

After 6 years of turmoil for a Devon family, which started with a complicated pregnancy of triplets, Daisy, Amber and Lola, including Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome, heart defects, prematurity and at one point a 30% chance of survival – the battle has continued for the 2 of the 3 girls, with Daisy's condition progressing to end stage renal failure and Amber fast approaching kidney failure.

Daisy has been on dialysis for two years' with a 4 hour round trip needed 4 days a week.

In addition both Amber and Daisy have spent months in high dependancy and intensive care, following January 2018 when Daisy got flu leaving her extremely ill, she was placed in an induced coma, whilst Doctors fought to save her life. As well as the triplets, there's two additional children for the family to worry about too!

The DIY SOS project hopes to adapt their home and convert their garage into a home dialysis centre so they don't have to travel 4 hours, 4 times a week for the gruelling dialysis. (home dialysis would ease the burden and the family would see each other, currently they are like ships passing in the night and it’s fair to no one.)

One of the team of two who worked on the project, from Racking Solutions, General Manager, Martin Churm said “It's an honour to be involved in this DIY SOS project and have the opportunity help such a great cause. I couldn't possibly imagine the strain this family, who the project is for must be under and the constant worry they endure daily. If this project eases that worry and strain, then that's all I could wish for.” Martin, a family man from Selby has worked with Racking Solutions, since the start of the business.
